As I was working on my big beautiful Ford yesterday a post from Instagram came to mind.
A 1932 Ford five window was for sale. Looking through all the pictures I saw air conditioning. So I asked the seller, really a/c? Meaning it’s a 32 Ford why put in air? It not only is a Hot Rod but the exact definition of hot rod. Right? A pre war car small, loud and rowdy. No seatbelts nothing. I received a smart ass yeah that explains the vents reply. Yeah I saw them but if you’re not delivering girl scout cookies why do you need a/c? I got a if you don’t like it don’t buy it answer.
That is what my hobby is turning into? Under the hood of “real car guy stuff” we are supposed to LS overdrive swap in 37 miles per gallon and comfort equip our old cars until they are as mindless and soft as a 2021 Honda Accord? Not me I will gladly run my big trucks with the only creature comforts are a 350 auto and power steering. In my Chevy of course. The Ford high boy has no such soft spots. The original carburetor FE 390 putting power to the ground. Tuning by hand tools not a laptop.
Until next time new cars are boring fix something old.
