With a pitstop on some clean up and a shop sign, the final rivet has been removed. To recap the rear leaf spring hangers were both damaged and needed replaced. The left side had bolts due to prior replacement, but the right side had its original 1973 rivets in place. Knocked the heads off with an air chisel punched two out with a punch dressed one with a grinder then punched it out. The final one only came out after drilling it out. After my clean up I got my leaf springs up for inspection. The bushings were being changed anyway due to age but I was surprised by their poor condition. It’s going to drive like it was new. With my heater and radiator hoses installed the next mission for the engine is a carburetor rebuild. And continue to focus on my rear end and suspension. That only leaves brake and fuel lines, and some electrical work and Big Green will be driving. Until next time new cars are boring, fix something older.
