Slowly getting ready for an opening date. I have two issues standing in the way. Sadly I underestimated the amount of energy they would both take. First was the shop space itself. Years of being my personal off site work space left it full of parts, projects and storage. A big purge at the beginning of October helped a lot, but I’m probably 70% ready. I have a little more moving and cleaning left. I need to finish my counter and finish the second coat of paint in the bathroom. I have decided to wait on the floor, and shop walls until spring. That’s money and time better spent elsewhere right now. My C10 is still currently taking up two spots and of course Big Green is in the way. I have planned to get her running in three weeks. I wrote down all the items that need to be addressed, scored them in two categories; time needed and difficulty. Then grouped them into three weekly lists that are equal in time and effort starting next week.
And my business license. I foolishly expected this to be easier. Open a repair shop, nothing exotic or ground breaking. In a shop space that has been a repair shop with a sign before me and surrounded by auto repair shops with signs. It has been months of clearance forms and resubmitted applications. Now I need to send a plan over to the water district so they can review my existing sink, toilet and hose bib’s impact on the water and sewer system. Fill out an adjoining space questionnaire and organize a plan to get my trash out to the dumpster and sign an affidavit agreement on what I can and can’t put in the dumpster. Until next week, new cars are boring fix something older…or bring it to me, next month.
