After many hours and parts purchases, my original hubs are still in limbo. The problem now? After installing the bearing races, one race is loose and spins freely in the hub. I do have backup hubs, but they need some extra work. The easiest and cheapest route is making my current hubs work. I am measuring them today, and the plan is to shim them. The front end of the project is moving along at a slightly better pace. I removed the fuel pump and noticed the arm was broken. Further inspection halted consideration of pulling the pan and timing chain cover. I have never seen a fuel pump arm break before, so I took a close look at the break. Bending with definite tool marks. Now I believe it was cut off to create a block-off plate. And finally, an unfortunate accident has changed my routine for getting to the shop. The correct term is time burglar. I will post today’s and tomorrow’s events at the shop to make up for missing my weekly post. Until then, new cars are boring; fix something old.
