An interesting question.

Which activities make you lose track of time?

Beyond the infinity pools of social media and email it gets to the core of your character.

For me, I have a short attention span. And I am a day dreamer. When I go out to run, walk my old dogs my mind wanders in day dream mode. What is happening tomorrow, what happened earlier all gets played on a loop. I will return without any realization of the time elapsed. The zone. A side note I have a young dog but my mind doesn’t wander. She is reactive and very strong. You have to be there in the moment with her. No ear buds nothing. Pay constant attention to your surroundings.

In the garage or anywhere I’m building or creating, solving problems. I fall into the captured attention zone. No day dreaming or wandering thoughts. Completely mentally and physically involved with the task at hand. My projects in the shop, landscaping and drawing. I get lost in the task. Some times I will put on an audio book then the time flies by. Problem solving is a little different. The mystery is the capture. I used to read Encyclopedia Brown books as a kid. My garage is the same. No fuel in Big Green? What are my clues? Bad stock fuel pump, has been sitting a bit. Rusty tank, bad pickup to start. Next.

I have been waiting for parts and did some yard repairs so I haven’t been to the shop in a few. I will be there Monday morning to get some work done. Remember new cars are boring, fix something old.
